is it possible to exchange gold for gems? or more ways to get more gems aside from in the forrest, and the outhouse?

I've been playing off and on since 2005 with 12DKs, I've never found a way to exchange gems for gold.

If you play as a Felyne I believe you have higher chances of collecting gems in fights.

Also, when you get to level 15 and search for the dragon you may find a few gems laying around if you go in the wrong cave.
