Is there any interest in a new set of Avatars, and if so might there be any compensation (like lodge points) involved if someone were to make them?
Yes, there is always a level of interest in new avatars.
And if they are acceptable, there is compensation involved.
You may want to provide a sample or two before you spend a lot of time on them - I don't want you disappointed in case we don't like them.
You can PM me for more info.

Ruffiana, just so you are aware. They will most likely want all of the avatars to fit their standard.
Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB.

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe the avatars being discussed here are the in-game ones and not the forum ones. :)
There's still a standard:
These images will be provided in gif format and sized appropriately for
display on the right side of the bio page, under a browser running
full-screen in 1024x768 resolution (this means each image will be around
130 pixels wide and 325 pixels tall). The exact sizes of each image may
vary slightly but this is a guideline as to where they will be used for
display purposes.

Yeah, I figured out they were a common size. I downloaded the source and set up a local server, just so I could see the inner workings of the game and eventually teach myself some PHP...maybe code up a couple of simple modules (already made one random event for the village)
Looking through all the folders I found the template and other existing avatars. It's what prompted me to ask about new ones. Wasnt sure if there was a limit on how many sets there could be. Been sketching some really rough designs for the different races. There's just so many of them and all with a male and female version...it's be a pretty significant undertaking.

I hope you registered and maybe released it on DragonPrime? You're certainly not obligated to, but admins love to see new modules =)

Well, I should say I got it functional, but it's not really polished yet.

Okay, so there's a size limit, but is there any sort of requirements on how the avatars are drawn? (For the record, I am very interested in drawing new avatars for the game)
In the Lodge, all the avatars are full body sketches, with fairly standard standing poses. Would it be okay to create avatars that are just faces (for example, a picture consisting only of a dwarf's head and his intricately braided beard) or viewed from another angle rather than just straight on? Or in poses that are not standing (such as a sitting Storm Giant or a Felyne up a tree?) And does all races mean Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, Felyne, and Storm Giants?

Yes, other poses, or shots rather than straight-on full-body are perfectly fine.
The size restrictions are as follows:
The final image should be around 130 pixels wide and 325 pixels tall. It's okay to vary slightly from that, but that should be the goal.
Any artwork submitted should also be released under the CCL Share-Alike 2.0 license (ie, the license we are using for LoGD) and allow us to distribute them as part of the core code should we desire. The artist will be credited on the work (just as is done now for the existing avatars) and the art will remain the property of the artist (meaning they can reuse it in any way they see fit).
