I got this idea from my mount naming contest and from the tattoo/easter egg thread.

I was thinking that every once in a while, there could be a special item hidden in the game. It would work like this. There would be a MoTD saying that the item had been hidden in the game. Then:

A. There would be a new link in one of the game's shops that says something like "Prize Item!"

B. There would be a new outcome to one of the existing specials in which players find the prize item.

Players could then go to Vernon and trade in their prize item, similar to how players receive their bounties from Dag after the bandit quest. They would receive a one-time use ticket that doubles the points on their next donation. The find prize item outcome would then turn off after 200 trade-ins.

This might be fun to have because:

1. Scavenger Hunts (and races) are usually pretty fun.
2. It rewards people who read the MoTD.
3. People would travel to the different towns and try the specials more often.
4. Vernon's Trade Stall would be useful more than every once in a moon.... err, while. :)
5. It would encourage players to donate.

I was thinking there could also be a small special commentary area for players who completed the quest. Another thing that might be in that special commentary area is an explanation of some of the wordplays in the game (like I suggested in the other thread), or maybe even an answer to one of Atrus' riddles. (Did I mention those things are devious? :))

It would take a LOT of coding. One major problem I can see is putting the item in a different location for every player (so they can't tell each other where it is).

I know this would be way down on the to-do list, but what do you think?

We've hidden clues in the victory messages of creatures before, and that has been used to run a Savenger Hunt.

MightyE also has a half finished module on adding a similar type scavenger hunt for items in the game.

While this is a good suggestion, please remember that the more complex something is, the less likely someone else will be coding it for you; simple things are easier to code and have a better chance of getting done.

If you really want to contribute these things to the game, maybe it's time to learn php and how to create modules for the game.

(And this isn't a criticism against you or anyone else in particular, just a general statement.)
