Tactics questions

Before I even try to begin a discussion on tournament tactics - can I ask what the rules are on tactic discussions - I find it really hard to keep track of what's considered a "game secret".

For example, which of these would be considered a game secret:

1) Talking about best ways to level up (slumming for money/normal fights/living dangerously)

2) Talking about best distribution of DKs for fast progression

3) Talking about when to sacrifice kills for turns, and when to start Pking

etc?

You can share all the secrets you want in the tourney server, but it will probably be to your disadvantage, since you are helping your "enemies."

Ah. Basically... anything thats not in the FAQ and you have to find out on your own is a game secret. When in doubt, put it in yellow and put spoiler warnings before it.

I would not consider any of those topics as game secrets, as they are a matter of opinion and strategy.

I would make a disctinction between what mounts you prefer for your strategy and the exact details about what the mounts do, however.

OK: I like mounts x, y, and z, and any other ones that boost my attack.

Not OK: I like the 1.24117 multiplier from mount x.

JCP makes a very good point. I personally do not care in the least if secrets are revealed on the tourney server, even things like what mount does what, because it is not aimed at a newbie player (although everyone is welcome, of course!). But we're in the forum at the moment... and I think usually, strategy can be discussed without the nitty-gritty.

Looking back at what I'm trying to get out of this, I think if I'm honest what I'm looking for is just what I'll have to learn from experimenting and experience :)

Things like whether a race with a defense bonus will lead to as much of a saving of cash as a race that gets extra gold. I'm finding most of my difficulties at the moment centre around the fact that if I level up fast, my weapons lag behind, and if I manage to get weapons in time, I'm levellin very slowly.

Although really, I'm fairly certain I just suck ;-)

The problem with what you are asking for is that there are a LOT of different combinations to investigate - it's really a complex system.

Plus there are personal preferences to consider. Some people prefer to take risks, others may prefer a more conservative approach.

The good thing is that there are lots of things to fiddle with in order to get a mix that works for you.

And that's sort of the point to the tournament server - to see if the combination you think works for you really does work in a new environment.
