Tourney server? Eh, what?

This is pretty much aimed at SaucyWench, but if anyone else knows a bit...

I've taken a gander at GemDust.com (http://www.gemdust.com), and it sounds interesting.

However, I haven't signed up because there's nothing that really tells what the heck a "tourney" server is. Was there an announcement in the forums that I just missed (and that my search missed)? Or has Saucy only been promoting it via her rather cryptic signature and website?

I'd be glad to be one of the necessary 30 people if I had any idea what it was and what kind of a time drain it would create in my life. :)

Basically a Tournament (competition) of 100 game days, to see how far you get in the Hall of Fame. After that 100 days it's all over and you can't keep advancing. The main page shows some of the main settings people are usually interested in (Purple Tourney is 15 forest fights per game day, 5 PvP per day, and two game days per 24 hours) but for *any* server you can see the settings from the login page by clicking Game Setup Info.

I see, Saucy. I wasn't aware that GemDust wasn't officially endorsed. Thought it was an experimental thing like DragonCat. The other posts in this new forum have answered most of my questions, actually.

I had looked at the setup information for Purple server, but it didn't tell me much beyond the number of forest fights and PvP allowed each day. Thanks for the other info!

Skaak, just to let you know, I don't quite think I would call DragonCat experimental - it's true that both DragonCat and Central are still beta servers and do on occasion have code that we have to change, but DragonCat is Kendaer's (Moonchilde's) real, production server, not really a testing ground. We have a testing ground, but it's not really a public server, and it has a different website address.

I have a question. How many real life days do we get to play the 100 game days? Or is there no resurrecting?

It's 100 game days, that happen at the normal New Day times. =) It means it will last 50 real 24-hour periods.

Isn't that funny... I started a Farmie and got smacked into the Shades disturbingly fast. I believe Syrius managed to die at level 1 too.

We forget how easy we have it (in comparison) once we have a few dragon kills... I think this tourney will be interesting, and hopefully a bit of fun!

yeah im just killing out at 15 and i keep getting insanely lucky becasuse i really dont need to worry that much about dieing, im juts waiting for July 15, but yeah i push "Until End" everytime and at least 5 times each game day i will end up with 1 HP left after i push it :D

The idea was that the Orange one would open when Purple actually began, but I wanted to see how much interest there would be first, because I have to pay to add a second database on my host. I'll probably still open the next one fairly soon... if I have money on my PayPal (because my credit card for some reason refuses to fund that anymore... hehe... :oops: )

Because subsequent to that post, I decided differently.

Gemdust is now considered an affiliate site, especially as we can use the experience of running a tourney server to help refine the concept.
