i love playing as Gene Simmons, "I want to rock and roll all night, and party every day!"

Thats a tough one, since there are so many genres out there, with many games being excellent in different ways.
Probably my all-time favorite would have to be Soul Reaver. That game just rocked.
Or The Bard's Tale. Old-school RP at its best! (they [Brian Fargo, etc] are also working on a console Bard's Tale...looks to be interesting).

I've always been fond of old-school strategy games, like shining force I and II, although the newer shining force III was pretty good.

Durn, just caught myself calling a game released 6 years ago new. I guess I'll just go sit in a corner and mumble something to myself about 1994 being the peak of quality of video games (with the obvious exception of lotgd).

metroid prime for gamecube, soulcalibur2 for gamecube and xbox (the ps2 version sucks...) and every final fantasy part is quite cool...
also very cool is desert combat ( a mod for battlefield 1942).
but nothing beats the pc version of morrowind!
i'm looking forward to guildwars and world of warcraft of course... they both look promising!

I've gotta go with some classics.. Gauntlet, Joust, and 1942 claimed way too many of my quarters back in the day.. :)

For current stuff, I'm usually good with almost any cRPG (big fan of Bioware's works), though I have been known to play RTSes and FPSes now and again..

Didn't playing the one level until you were level 99 bore the crap out of you?
There are some games out there that get boring before I even finish it, let alone playing the same thing over and over.

naw, what we did was have a race, and whenever he came over, we would play it (we didnt just play video games we did other stuff too) and we would have a race, to see who could gain the most exp in one day and so the whole game was pretty much both of us dissing the other, i like his "want me to break your thumbs so you have an excuse for playing like (censored)?" my personal favorit is " pack your book bag and call me busdriver, cause im taking you to school sucka"

i'm still an old-school gamer.. probably my favorites are Mega Man 2 and 3 and River City Ransom.
when playing with my better half, tho, we tend to rock out on the Genesis playing ToeJam & Earl.
Man, RCR was a game.. kinda reminds me of LOGD sometimes. you go out, beat people up for their money, go eat something, and head back out and beat more people up.. i think i have to play that again now...
i'm interested to see how the GC/GBA ports of MegaMan and RCR come out.

i'm waiting for the sims 2... looking good. :)

i had Sim Deluxe edition (for PC) and after a while it just got boring to me i mean nothing ever happened, my guy would kiis his wife and kids go to work then come home while hese doing that the the kids go to a school leaving me with the wife - stops and thinks about what he just said quote "leaving me home alone with the wife" ummm let me rephrase that... anyways, what that game needs is some drive bys, or a uni-bomber OR ATLEAST A DOOR-TO-DOOR SAILS MAN THAT I CAN KEEP HOSTAGE

the only thing i liked about that game was biulding a house with no roof so that yuo could put rocket launchers (toy ones, like the once yuo buy ast the store) laid the whole floor with carpets and rocket launchers, made no doorways so that the family was traped inside and light of the rocket launchers, thus the rugs would ignite and presto! you got the grim reaper nocking down the door : D

I never tried the big guns route on Fallout 2, I had Marcus for that, my weapon of choice was the P90c (I think that's how it went), it used 10mm ammunition and gave one of the highest damages per burst of all the small guns... 'twas very nice to wield

I read through all your answers and I was very surprised, that no-one even mentioned my personal favourite, which isn't exactly a video game, but can be considered as one. The one, the only, my personal favourite: Nethack! I've ascended a few times and it still is one of the most addictive games ever. From console-side, I'd have to answer Final Fantasy 8, which was my first final fantasy, and still has a very special place in my heart.

My first Final Fantasy (actually, my first PS game ever) was Final Fantasy 7. I do have 8 though..and 9, 10, 10-2, 11, 4, Tactics, Tactics Advanced... But yes, 8 was pretty good, especially if you consider the graphical advances between 7 and 8...Though once 10 came out and I looked back at 8, all I saw were pixelated fields of color. Just got it yesterday! Its awesome. Many different types of races, and the way you get to the races is more realistic too. You have to drive to the various locations where races are at, they show up on your map. Easy wins can be found when your crew gives ya a ring on the singular phone (gotta love logo drops in a game), and lets you know about a race in a certain area, thats not marked. I've managed to get a StreetGlow sponsorship and am currently working on finishing my contract with them.

Accelerate Fast, Corner Hard, WIN!!

I've been playing electronic games for most of my life. Starting with old Nintendo Game & Watch portables, I worked up to the NES, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, SNES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, PlayStation, GBA, PS2, then the Xbox in the office, and of course on PC. You guys may have caught me raving about Halo 2 in the different towns, and making references to it. But so far, there has been only two games that really get my goat. One is an old D&D Populous-style simulation called "Stronghold" by SSI, released in the early 90's for Win 3.x. Then there's Ragnarok Online (http://iro.ragnarokonline.com/) by Gravity Corporation. I don't play it right now, since I'm still saving up for a PC that suits my specs, but as soon as I do get it, and broadband in my room... <insert diabolic megalomaniacal laughter>

The absolute most fun game of all time is definitely Katamari Damacy. You control this little tiny prince who rolls around a big sticky ball called a katamari. You can roll the katamari over objects and they will stick to it! Of course, the katamari gets bigger and bigger as you pick up more stuff... You start out so small you can only pick up pushpins and legos (and other stuff of similar size), but eventually you can get big enough to pick up people or even buildings!

My friend let me borrow Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth (now I have played every Lord of the ring game/ seen every lord of the ring movie ( even the extended version and chartoon series)/ read all the books (including The Hobbit) but thats not important now just had to gloat how big of a LotR fan i am  ) and no words can come close to describing how cool it is. I mean the sound, the graphics, the game play... its awemasing. When I'm alone and I'm playing I have the sound blarring ( the desk is shaking from the bass) and it just kick some Mordor rear Ol' School. And each level takes anywhere from 30 minutes to and hour long and there is abuot 25-30 levels depending on your choice. I recently got to the Battle of Gondor (if you guys dont know that is the biggest battle in the whole series. Know I knew the level would be long and hard... it took 3 hours... my eyes hurt after I was done looking at that glowing computer screen... and there was such a huge map and so huge of armies that my computer paused and up poped a Alert saying "Virtual Memory Running Low" so I have to quickly pause and save where I was and then turn off the computer and shut off all the other applications running just so i could finish the level...yeah... that huge...
and sofar its taken me about 2 weeks to just get to that point... I still need to beat Evil Mode where you play as the part of Isengard and Mordor

Then theres skirmish mode... "Holy (cow)" I was awemased at how cool that was because I'm not much of a skirmish fan. I love a good story line and thats it, but this was cool. The way its setup s the more battle you win the higher level your army became and unlocked stuff and became stronger.

I give it a 20 out of 10

Xenogears for the PSX. To me it had such a unique story and so many plot twists I had to play it twice to grasp what the story was about. But I recently bought the prequel to it.
