So what really infuriates you? Vent your rage here
You know what maddens me? Being banned from the lotgd because some anonymous [sp?] person tries to log into my account and the site automatically bans me. You really do have to hate seeing:
"You fall under a ban currently in place on this website: Automatic System Ban: Too many failed login attempts."
This happened to me first thing this morning when I attempted to log on. Grrrrrr.....
So what makes you just want to blow your top?

The auto ban is IP based. I couldn't prevent you from being able to log in to your account by failing to log in to your account too many times unless I was on the same IP address as you. If you're in a situation where multiple users have the same public IP address (such as at many universities), then one person could get the entire block of people who have the same IP locked out.

AOL and Compuserve also have similar problems with shaped IPs. It's happened to me before. A PERMANENT ban because someone thought the name "JCPisafag"(or something like that) was cute...*rolls her yes* Oh-so adorable...And I've also had the same problem on the school computers.

Another thing that infuriates me are viruses in my computer which is possibly the reason for my ban. It was a trojan horse so that is entirely possible. Getting 7 viruses in my computer in the 3 days between virus scans is ridiculous.
I understand the reason for the autoban. It's a good idea it just sometimes backfires on me.

You need a better virus scanner. I suggest PC-Cillin. (*shudders and the numbers of people that think Norton works well*)
As far as game playing goes, the only thing that irks me is dying on my first turn to Stonehenge. I can't really think of anything at all that makes me blow my top, though.

-The newbie from above is ressurected after months of thinking he was gone from your life
-The Gypsy with the Evil Eye coming for you multiple times in one night.

Being haunted, and then having very low spirits the next day.
1% interest rate when I need the money most.
People pestering me for money several days in a row.
The same questions being asked repeatedly in the village square.
Needing to leave in the middle of a conversation.
Running out of posts, which happens annoyingly frequently.
Being hit for 1 hp damage, and missing out on a flawless fight.

I started playing Socom II online last weekend. I stink though, but I have been improving every time I play. I have been sticking to Frostbite board. First I had the wrong set up so my buttons were all messed up, but I fixed that. I think in less than 2 hours of game time, I have less than 10 kills and get killed atleast 95% of the time. The offline game is a little slow for me, I only played half way through the first board. But I do like the online play. my log on is gpete13.

Annoying/stupid farmies who are in a clan.
I have a lot of patience, and normally when new players ask about stuff that is covered in the FAQ, or behave inappropriately, I can handle it.
But when they have a clan tag, it gets me upset.
It's not a rational response (which upsets me even more), but this makes me very angry - so angry I've considered giving clan leaders the same bans that the players earn (if any).
I guess that I view accepting someone into a clan as an act of friendship, and not something that should be given to someone who just signed on and does not know how to conduct themselves.
At the very least their new clan mates should educate them.

i would like to make a couple observations in this regard:
1. i don't understand how a clan can accept someone who has just come to the server and hasn't established an identity or personality. i have seen farmies with clan tags at level 2. how do ye know if they fit the composition of the clan and the community microcosm that a clan essentially is?
2. if a clan is established that accepts farmies, they should be required to have an orientation upon acceptance of the farmie. whether it is a yom that states in addition to "welcome" a guide to where to garner information such as the FAQs and this forum. they need to have someone be the mentor to the lost ones in their clan.
i have been observing the dynamics here for 6 months as i know many here from another server, recently decided to come to the foreground, and joined a clan myself.
i note that the moderators spend an inordinate amount of time trying to assist the newcomers. if the clans accepting farmies can aid in the education of those in their brotherhoods, it would be a boon to the process.
otherwise, i suggest that the all the clans be established to only accept players with a minimum number of dks to ensure that the person is familiar with the mechanics of the game and they have a feel for the personality of the potential member.

The problem is there are no such requirements to create a clan - have the gold and gems and create it. I'm sure a few are for the sole purpose of the 'prestige' of having the clan tag, and the founders/officers/members have no interest in doing anything except display their tag.
And I agree with JCP about farmies in clans should have a much better concept of what is acceptable and what is not.

The problem is there are no such requirements to create a clan - have the gold and gems and create it.
then i believe it is time to begin having requirements for the establishment of a clan beyond the requisite expense of wealth.
as this online community continues to grow, like it or not ye have a society. society is governed by rules to bring order out of chaos.

well alot of people invite there friends to play here and so they admit them into there clan or tell there leader that they know them in real life or bla bla bla and so thats probably how some level 1 farmies are in clans
We are trying to come up with better clan management.
But yes, I think any clan accepting farmies should provide some sort of orientation. I just can't enforce that.
(Thanks for the support!)

05-24-2004, 01:57 PM
Pretty much impossible to enforce how leadership actually leads their clan, but perhaps it's time for penalties for clans which have members consistently causing problems?

05-24-2004, 02:22 PM
I be one of the guilty parties here as I run a clan with no requirements... but I do think that ye should be able to join a clan straight away if ye want.
However, I have suggested in other places that if someone gets banned (or put in a jail which may come soon) then they should immediately be ejected from any clas which they may be part of - they can rejoin after the term has ended and 'tis up to them to explain their sudden departure.
'Tisn't really a problem of the clans, but of people using the clan tag to protect them from banning - I'll post an intro in me clan hall to keep them behaving though.....
Talisman
05-24-2004, 02:42 PM
In my mind, there is nothing wrong with having no requirements to join a clan. I think the point is that when someone is accepted into a clan, the leaders, officers and other members should be assuming some responsibility to aid newer players to understand the rules particular to the server.
I used to run a clan in a first-person shooter game (I know, not quite the same thing) and we didn't have any real requirements to join - we welcomed noobs as well as vets. We did have an expectation that they would be good sports and courteous at all times so as not to reflect poorly on our clan tag. As such, we all made an effort to teach our new members the rules and protocols to enable that.
Of course, not all clans in that game shared our attitude, nor can we expect all clans in LotGD to do so...but it would be nice....

In our clan, DDS, I don't accept or decline people unless instructed (Leon spent the gems and money, he has first rights in my eyes..for now.)
I DO watch out for questions and trouble-makers and inactive people. I usually don't answer stupid questions, and neither does Leon so...it's pretty good from our end...I guess...@.@

im a clan leader myself (EoF), and i try to accept experienced players by only allowing people in my clan who are online regularly and have leveled past level 1 farmie.
any more restrictions and i wont have much of a clan, i agree that the farmies should be educated, but it's hard if they are not given the opportunity. i guess i dont mind if they ask stupid questions, cos i just direct them to the faq and the forums.
since everyone in my clan knows they are meant to be evil (especially to JCP and the other admins), i think that is the only requirement i truely require

This actually works well for people on both ends of the phone. I have two friends who worked at one time as telemarketers. Basically their jobs are incredibly boring. They don't even have to dial the phone numbers, the computer does it for them. The wait all day for the crazy guy that goes off on them, breaking the monotony. They even used to have competitions with their coworkers as to who got the craziest person.
So, you get rid of stress, and they get something to entertain them.

I've only played a few days and I'm really getting ticked off. My character is ALWAYS in low spirts. I lose 1 or 2 forest fights everyday. I only get 10 fights a day IF I don't lose any forest fights. I've NEVER played a version of LORD that screws with the players this much. Its not just losing forest fights. Its also a lot of random crap that happens where I lose charm, cash and experiance. :( Hell at the Inn I asked the bard to play and a *bleeping* string snaps and hits me in the eye. I lost hit points and was pissed 'cause I'm low on cash. Then in the forest I'm now fighting creatures that are kicking my ass now BUT I haven't leveled up. The previous day I didn't have a lot of trouble fighting monsters. But for some odd reason they are now kicking the shit out of me. Again I stress I haven't leveled up yet and I've bought new armor. I'm losing forest fights because I have to run. So I decide to go slumming and sometimes that same crap happens even when I'm slumming! Whatelse....Oh that damn barkeep is a thief!!!!! Arrggghh!!!!!

Single most annoying thing is minding my own business, getting almost enough XP to the next level, going in inn, and next day noting that someone has punched the XP bar back to the middle. Used to be a real problem when I was a farmie, but it has generally not been a problem since all these extra turns and stuff :)
The equally annoying and *still* common problem is punching tons of monsters and not having enough money on healing afterwards... that means a trip to the bank. And you're supposed to make profit in the woods. Grrr.
And, of course, the everyone's favorite, accidentally spending money on something silly like healing and not having enough to stay in the inn.

I've been in that situation many times before. Actually I'm in one of them right now! It know can be fustrating but I'm sure you'll make it through. What I do is calm down a bit, avoid PvPs for a while and just hit the forest (Thrillseeking is a good idea if you have a good mount).
It might take an extra game day to get back to where you were initially but it's a lot less fustrating than getting clobbered in PvP again (you can even lose fights that you seemed sure to win, that's a proven fact!). Oh, and also try to stay at the Inn, at least people will think twice before going to your room. Even if you lose 5% from being attacked you can get that back easily from the forest.
Hope this helps and good luck with you DK.

Oh no! sHE hates my baseball team! :D I thought it was bad enough having them out of the playoffs and having a miserable season, and now this....... :)
How did you know I love the Twins and baseball? Nice Darcia! :x
So yeah, GUY > GIRL, and I knew about your infamous baseball and twins from your avatar. Acemaster seems to have known as well. But I have to say, being called a "she", was pretty infuriating.

I would like to add "People who think everything is about them" and "People who don't just quiet down and accept the way things are, but instead refuse to let a topic die" to the list of infuriations.

Whenever life get you down, Pixie
And things seem hard or tough.
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft,
And you feel that you've had quite enu-hu-hu-huuuuff!
Just - re-member that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
and revolving at 900 miles an hour,
It's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned,
the sun that is the source of all our power.
The Sun and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour,
of the Galaxy we call the Milky Way.
Our Galaxy itself contains 100 billion stars,
it's 100,000 light-years side-to-side,
It bulges in the middle, 16,000 light-years thick,
but out by us it's just 3000 light-years wide.
We're 30,000 light-years from galactic central point,
we go round every 200 million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
in this amazing and expanding universe.
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
in all of the directions it can whizz,
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light you know,
twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
how amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
because there's very little down here on Earth

Oh yes, I agree that is much better to be safe than sorry. I was actually just wondering if it was you who had done the Bowdlerizing, or if someone actually had posted it like that on the net. (The horror and blasphemy) :D
Eric Idle would be turning in his grave. Granted: He's not dead yet, but he would turn nevertheless had he been in a grave. Well actually since he's not dead he'd probably scream, shout and claw at the coffinlid....

People who fail to realize that this is a family friendly game, or are aware of it and deliberately attempt to raise trouble. Talk about being a lifeless loser...don't they have anything better to do? Such as, have a life?

It can happen a lot with me. People don't actually seem to realise that even people who appaear to be shallow can be deep.
I guess it depends on how I choose to act though.

Infuriate is pretty strong. I already waste my time on too many other (mostly) pointless things (like writing papers) to add infuriate to the list.
Not that I'm a beacon of calm. I've been told I get pretty psycho when I'm stuck behind a reaaaallly sloooow driver.
Sheesh. Speed limits are guidelines anyway...

Sheesh. Speed limits are guidelines anyway...
I had an interesting weekend driving back from a trip. The speed limit was 60, and people were averaging 75, with the fast lane going 85. That was FAST!
(Note to all you wonderful non-Americans out there: that's 85 mph, not kmh.)

Old lady! :D
Kidding. Actually I meant being stuck behind a couple of um.. slow drivers, one in front, one in the lane next to me, who're both averaging about 10 miles under the speed limit.
I guess for them the speed limit is a guideline of a different sort...
Indecisiveness. Thats all.
Too much... But most of all false stupidity and those who participate in it.
