Main Game server outage

Hallo all,
The Main server and the forum which runs on the same machine whre down for about 1,5 weeks. The problem was a bad sector on the system drive. First I thought I could fix it with a de and re magnisatation of the drive. But after i discovered that it was a physical error (the read reading head of the HDD was making schratches in the disk), I had to get it replaced, which took quite a time.
It also took longer then expected to get the image to the disk, as the new disk had a different geometry.
Aslo I had an important exam at university, and my reallife has quite priority
Now we are on a mirror raid (Raid0) so we hope that the errorrange has decreased.

I really do not want to disillusion you about the savety of the disk. However, with Raid0 the data is simply striped over several disks. A mirror is Raid1.

Look on the bright side,

Talesin has found a fountain of youth so we can go back in time and relive our last week. Maybe we could learn from mistakes or past errors (such as Terron attacking me and dying TWICE) and maybe we can experiment and try a new path.

It's all a learning curve ..... take 2. Let's try that again! :D


P.S. Hope that exam went well because I believe you had no sleep all week :shock:

you are right hardhat, i had a typo in there.. its a mirrored disk so as you pointed out correclty its Raid1..

You should have seen her when she visited Dragoncat, Kether. I thought my ears were going to burn off with all of the language she was using. Not to mention the "streaking incident." :oops: :lol:

Why, oh why, do I have this sinking feeling that I'm never going to live down my time and antics on Dragoncat? Geez...ya cut loose a little and this is what you get for your troubles.
